Game Format and Groups
The 1st World International Students Soccer Cup is based on a clubs cup. Sixteen teams will be divided in groups of four teams. The best two teams of each group classify for the “A” play-offs, and the other two teams of each group will play the “B” play-offs. As we expect many foreign schools to participate, all the matches will be played according to FIFA rules.
Each school will play at least 4 games and maximum of 6 games.
Teams will be awarded 3 points for a win and 1 point for a tie.
At the end of the preliminary round, the following criteria will be used to determine the placement for the play-offs, in order of importance:
- Greater number of points
- Direct confrontation
- Goals balance (scored goals - allowed goals)
- Greater number of goals scored
- Least number of goals allowed
- Drawing
Play-offs: if there is no winner after the regular time, the game will be decided on penalty kicks.
